The Aro established well near two hundred settlements scattered throughout southern Nigeria. Today, however there are still over one hundred Aro settlements most of which still bear their established names. The Aro settlements still retain the traits on which the Aro States was built as most of the citizen refuse to change their beliefs, customs and allegiances. They owe allegiance to the Eze Aro who remains, even today, the symbol of Aro hegemony.
